Reminds me of the time my wife hit a deer early one morning on her way to work. She loves preparing and eating game (once I’ve processed it into piece parts), but she grew up on Okinawa, where the fauna does not include whitetails. I asked her if it was a buck. She said “I don’t know, but it has big antenna.”
A few years ago, my wife and I were headed to Atlanta (the back way) when we came upon a sports car that had hit a small buck. I walked up to the car and asked if the young lady was ok. She said, "I'm fine, not hurt but my brother didn't care, he just wanted to know the location and he is on his way." I told her my wife and I would stay with her till her brother got there. A few minutes later a truck pulled up with her mom, Dad and brother. I helped get the buck in the back of their truck, Mom was consoling the daughter and the dad, and I got the car to the point he could drive it home. Moms are always good for making tears go away.
I'm grateful the life wasn't gone in vain. I remember my family doing the same.

Great story, well told. Thanks.
